I saw her dad smiling really big

One of the things that touches me is when young fathers enjoy watching their little daughters play! Maybe because my first born is a girl. Maybe because the whole Tjeko idea is born out of the frustration I felt of not being able to give her a place to play. Maybe because little girls just do something to big men!

I remember last summer watching this father really enjoy watching his daughter play! He was taken by the moment - you could just see it. All his manliness sort of melted. Not sure who he was - and I really didn't care. This are the moments that make me realize: there is a need for places like Tjeko. A place where you can build memories for a lifetime. I love doing that with my daughter. I love seeing other fathers do that with their daughters.

By the way - I also enjoy watching moms with their daughters, or dads with their sons... this moment was just about a dad loving to see his daughter play!

de Juliana Toren experience

On Wednesday October 26, Ferdi will spent a day with Jeroen Buter, director of the Juliana Toren, a family fun park in Apeldoorn (the Netherlands)

Very exciting learning experience. Tjeko was there once before, with Bosco Mukiibi. Possibly the first Ugandan from Jinja to visit that park :)

Day 4 - Guarded We ended up with 3 teams of guards at the same time. Police, private armed-guards and our own guys. Guarding us from the guards. Truth is, guy on the right really started enjoying the Fun Fairs more every day!

National Agricultural Show 2011

Phase 1 of the Tjeko Fun Fair project is being concluded with an impressive presence at the National Agricultural Show in Jinja. During this show, promoting new farming tecniques for the Ugandan farmer, there is a LOT of entertainment availible for the general public. On the 16 acres that the show covers, more than 35% is reserved for
ENTERTAINMENT.
Tjeko is new at this show, and allows children to enjoy some Tjeko activities for the price of a mango! For only 15cents children can go write the Tjeko Karts, enjoy a round of mini-golf, or spent some time jumping on the trampolines.
Tjeko wants to test its concept in this first phase, and our participation at the show shows us what kids really are willing to pay for. Every day our tickets sales have DOUBLED. Today we are estimating to sell more than 400 tickets just today, putting our total well over 1000 and we are just half way the week!
